Child prodigies can be as young as three years old and as old as eighteen years old upon arriving in Ames. The purpose of child prodigies is to provide a generation of citizens to the city to promote further education, as well as a safe haven for the intelligent offspring of those who are equally bright or those who are average. Children have always been considered the future, the innocent and the ones with the most insightful view on the world. That being said, some people believe that it is unfair that only the best and the brightest of the most innocent people on the planet are allowed here. And others remind those who think that it's unfair that there are limited resources for the room and board of all these children and as well as limited funds to further their prospering education levels. There are ten year olds who have more degrees than a grown man ever will. There are three year olds who are more gifted than a century worth of artists. There are six year olds who are so jaded and cynical but so intelligent that you can't help but be in awe of them. These gifted children are the future of Ames - they are the future of the world. Without them, some of the knowledge that the adults carry with them would be lost once they die. Instead, the knowledge can carry on in the minds of the little one who are more intelligent than half the people on the planet put together.
