French Anti-Avian Influenza National Territory Security - F.A.I.N.T.S.

F.A.I.N.T.S. was formed on September 9, 2008 and was originally given the singular task of ensuring public safety and that outside civilians, who are not supposed to be privy to the sensitive knowledge that Ames exists, were kept out. The Command Centre is more than a simple build where people happen to wear fatigues and military-approved clothing and boots. The entire city is surrounded by what makes up the Complex, either by buildings or just walls that are patrolled twenty-four hours a day. The city has a huge military presence and it's important to keep the city, and it's cilivans, safe. The main building includes all of the offices and discussion rooms. Brancing off from that includes where the mess hall is, where the firing range is situated and, in a further corner, was the buildings for the living quarters. Military life, however bleak and enduring it might be, is necessary to ensure safety. To be certain, F.A.I.N.T.S. was not only a land-based army type of military. The personnel ranges from soldiers (army), sailors (navy), marines (... marines) and airmen (pilots and the like).

The military here follows a fairly simplistic ranking system that is based on most internationally recognized militaries across the world. In order, the ranking is as follows: general, colonel, major, captain, lieutenant, sergeant, corporal, private, cadet and (lastly) civilian contracts. All personnel (military or civilian) are required to sign a contract prior to stepping onto the base and being made privy of any confidential material that may or may not be revealed to them. The most common military folk that you will find on the base are soldiers, marines and airmen. For obvious reasons, naval officers are far and few between as Ames is a land-locked city. While there is access to a large body of water, this knowledge is not made known to the general public. Naval officers that are hired and recruited to Ames are more carefully screened than the others as they are given more access out of the city. Promotions in ranks are due to time served and reconition in special circumstances - punishment for military personnel includes being discharged from service and, perhaps even, exile from the city.
